DAY 1: Monday, April 20

Day 1 of the Organically Grown Wine Conference is geared towards trade, buyers, media and industry members, but open to anyone who is curious about organic wine farming.

The full day conference includes:

  • Organic Farming in Theory and Practice: Why Content and Context Matter

    Certification is just one part of organic winegrowing. This panel brings together 3 respected organic winegrowers from across Oregon to share valuable insights, lessons, and reflections on farming for the larger community around us. Together they’ll discuss farming as a pursuit of relationships, accountability, and shared values in support of healthier ecosystems and deeper human connections.

    Soil is alive! It is a complex, living system and the foundation of the entire farm ecosystem. Here we will explore the soil and vine health relationship, through the integration of animals, cover crops, and careful soil monitoring.

    More than just a social media opportunity — this in-depth discussion covers animal breeds, livestock-friendly cover crops, infrastructure, microbiology, labor requirements and constraints, and the honest accounting of how to succeed (and fail) in viti-pastoral management.   • Field Day at Chemeketa: Organic Floor Management & Powdery Mildew Monitoring

    Control of powdery mildew and weeds are the two greatest challenges facing organic winegrowers each season. Four companies on the leading edge of these issues will demonstrate tools and products being used to sustainably manage both.
